Staying Active around the Bellarine

Whether you’re a fitness fanatic or looking to get started on your health and wellbeing plan, there’s plenty of options to get you up and about around the Bellarine. Team sports, solo activities, mindfulness, the hardest thing will be deciding what to do first!

Swim, sport and leisure

Just down the road from Point Lonsdale in Ocean Grove is the Bellarine Aquatic and Sports Centre, a hub of activity for all ages. With a state-of-the-art gym, 25 metre lap pool, water park and toddler splash area, plus creche, café and free wi-fi, there’s really no excuse to get moving.

Team pursuits

Close by to The Point community is the family focused Queenscliff football and netball club, known as the Coutas. If you’re building a new house in the Point Lonsdale area, it’s a great environment to not only maintain your fitness but also to connect with other sports enthusiasts in your neighbourhood. With senior and junior football and netball, plus Auskick, the Coutas have something for everyone.

Park fun

In addition to the abundance of parks and green play areas planned for The Point community, the Point Lonsdale and Bellarine region is spoilt for choice when it comes to outdoor recreation spaces. Why not grab a group of friends and start your own free range fitness group. It’s family and dog friendly and easy on the hip pocket!

Free wheeling

If you like to feel the wind in your hair and want to catch some stunning scenery while you’re at it, then you need to get out and try the 6km track between Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff, perfect for the novice cyclists, and lots of options for a coffee at the end. For those after a bit more adventure on two wheels, check out the 34km Bellarine Rail Trail which follows the old train line all the way into Geelong – better pack a picnic!

Ride the waves
A lifestyle near the coast is the perfect partner to some form of water exercise. Getting involved in the Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club can mean learning new lifesaving skills for juniors and adults, or participating in the many beach and community events, such as the popular Rip View Swim. Or if a bit of solo exercise action is more your go, there are plenty of great surf spots to catch a wave or learn some new skills in the area.
