Run 3225 is Back! Read the Q&A with Arhlia.

21 May 2020

Run 3225 officially resumed their running sessions this past weekend, and after the overwhelming response we received about the incredible story of 9-year-old Arhlia and her running group, we just had to reach out to the young lady herself to learn more!

Read on below for our Q&A with Arhlia.

How long have you been running for?

It seems like I have been running since I could walk! I actually started running in Little Athletics when I was 4 years old in the Brimbank Little Athletics Club. After we moved to Point Lonsdale, I joined the Ocean Grove/Barwon Heads Little Athletics Club that competes each week in Geelong at Landy Field. I have been receiving private coaching for the past two years and have made it to the state championship for relays in 100m, 200m & 400m. I was also just presented the Club Champion award for season 19/20 for Ocean Grove/Barwon Heads for Under 10 Girls and 1st Place for most personal bests. I love running and try running at least 3 times a week.

What inspired you to get Run 3225 started?

I was inspired to start Run 3225 because my Dad has a cafe in Caroline Springs and he sponsors a running group there. I thought it was a great idea and thought I would start one so that people could enjoy a fun run or walk and get to know each other in our beautiful community at Point Lonsdale.

What’s your favourite part about running with your group in Point Lonsdale?

My favourite part of running in Point Lonsdale is running with my friends and meeting new people along our beautiful beachfront. I also love running on the new footpaths through The Point, as that is where I live, and luckily my Mum and Dad feel safe letting me run on all the new walking tracks. I am going to suggest to our running group that we begin to meet at the new Cafe 3225 within The Point. That way we can run through the beautiful estate and then meet for a beverage at the new cafe. By the way, I love the name!

Who can come and join your running group once things go back to normal?

Anyone can come and join Run 3225! I love that we have people of all ages and abilities, as it’s so nice to run and walk with different people and gives us the chance to get to know each other. I think it’s very important to get into the outdoors, take in the fresh air and talk to each other while exercising rather than sitting inside on iPads or computers or watching TV. We have men, women, boys and girls ranging in ages with our youngest being my baby brother who gets pushed along in Mum’s pram. Anyone and everyone are welcome!

What a fantastic effort! We can’t wait to get out for a light jog with Run 3225 before finishing for a quiet coffee at Café 3225 very soon.

If you’d like to join the group for a run around beautiful Point Lonsdale, Run 3225 meet every Sunday at 9:00 on the deck adorning the beach of Point Lonsdale opposite the IGA supermarket. Anyone can join and if you’d like to learn more, email Arhlia herself at Arhlia10@gmail.com
